What a mess we have become to be in an era were organizing manuals fly off the shelves! On a constant quest to simplify my life, plough through paper mountains, and avoid being swallowed up by my closet, I am driven toward these books desperate for an inkling of a rescue!

Anna Newton is UK based YouTube and Instagram content creator who has found a happy medium between acquiring eight books on minimalism and bringing herself down to pitiful austerity, and navigating around the abundance of all things unnecessary.

She writes about balancing your life, self-care, finances, budgeting, capsule wardrobes, packing for trips, creating goals and future plans, etc, etc, and she has action plans to streamline both home and work place. Not a bad beginning, and she makes it look easy.

I was surprised how lovely this book is. As a small-ish, compact manual with a sleek well designed cover, this book feels good in the hand. (I don’t think I’ve ever thought that about a book…) The esthetic doesn’t stop there, it is beautiful throughout, although Anna’s choice to use a pale green color to accentuate certain concepts made them nearly impossible to read, even in the best of light.

She is forgiven though, because her charming millennial outburst, often in the most unexpected British colloquialisms, made me smile as I turned the pages.

There is little new in this book, but it is so useable compared to many others, and I love that she has added a resource list and refers to handy websites and apps throughout the book. She also offers printable graphs, lists, and worksheets that I know will come in handy.

It’s worth the read, and would make a lovely gift, especially for anyone who is overwhelmed by their space, feeling unable to manage time, or has difficulty finding the motivation to move past the obstacles.
