This book promises to increase productivity, boost cognitive function, and sharpen focus! Wow! I’m all in! Who doesn’t need that?

This book caught my eye in the audio section at the library and although I did start taking notes on it, I later starting listening to it in my car, but the brain apparently doesn’t like multitasking, if driving, listening and learning is considered multitasking.

This is literally a list 243 hacks about stimulating and preserving your brain function, not exactly cozy armchair reading, but quite interesting.

My takeaway was that the brain really likes healthy living…sleep, healthy foods, exercise, hydration, and volunteering, but there are actually some things that can be done to stimulate the brain such such as using the non-dominant hand for more tasks, writing poetry, learning at least five new words a day, and lifting weights.

If that isn’t appealing, then smiling, flirting and falling in love can also be brain savers, so is leaving the job you don’t really like.

Several times I heard that crossword puzzles are of no use at all in the quest for brain preservation, although taking on difficult tasks are…..

I guess it is a matter of perception?

I was surprised to see that I am using many of these hacks on a daily basis, but I might try to write a poem, brush my hair with my other hand, and indulge in the brain healthy endorphin rush I’m supposed to get from checking off items on my “To Do” list, and take it from there.

Good luck to you!
