Praise for this book say that this debut novel is a heady blend of wit, charm and romantic sizzle wrapped around a tantalizing mystery….., that it is an addictive story that grabs you and doesn’t let go…, that it is sexy and heart wrenching…..

Okay. I admit that it was an addictive page turner, but as a writer, I kept asking myself….where is she going with this?

Kate and the Honorable Captain Julian Laurence Spencer Ashford certainly are quite the couple, but in my mind, neither of them seem authentic. In a twisting plot where the characters are tossed between different eras through time travel, arriving with varying levels of memory recall, and a persistent sense of danger, even pending doom, I expected more than what the climax delivered.

While Kate adapts to different eras and lifestyles, Julian is quite steadfast from the beginning in spite of attempts to appear detached at times, but Cinderella’s prince couldn’t be more of a dream character than Julian. Could he be any more perfect? Could his devotion to Kate be any more encompassing, and could she be any more flippant when astounding information is dropped at her feet, or in her transformation from a Wall Street analyst to a billionaire’s darling?

Of course, time-travel and the additional fantasy elements supporting it, is fiction, but I still wanted to feel more connected to the characters.

Please let me know what you think of this book, and please remember, I write what I feel, which may be completely different than what you get out of this book, and that’s fine. We are all different, and that’s what makes us unique, and what makes discussions so interesting.

Some of them sound quite intriguing, so although Overseas was not a favorite, one or more of these might turn out to be just that!

The agent representing Overseas is Alexandra Machinist, and it was published by G.P. Putnam and Sons, and Berkley.
