Our guest author has nothing but praise for this classic fantasy story initially published in Germany in 1979, apparently using fonts colored specifically to separate the story’s world of Fantastica and the real world.

B.S. Thompson says, “This is my favorite book. The Never Ending Story, is not just an amazing film, but an incredible book which goes far beyond the scope of the movie. I have read it many times, and will continue to read it for years to come. I am a bit of a slow reader, due to undiagnosed dyslexia, so I tend to stick to books I know I won’t be wasting time on. The Never Ending Story checks all the boxes for me: A lead character I can relate to, an unforgettable story coupled with original, and bizarre characters. There’s a sense of something truly magical on its pages which is hard to find.

This is an early edition with colorful fonts.

Michael Ende was one of the most successful German writers of the post-war era, and sold over twenty million books, translated to forty different languages. Among his best known works are The Neverending StoryJim ButtonMomo and The Night of Wishes which have enthralled fantasy fans of all ages for decades.

This is one of the first versions, a leather-bound keepsake.
MOMO is another well known children’s book by Michael Ende.
A more recent version.
German author, Michael Ende, 1929-1995

“Once someone dreams a dream, it can’t just drop out of existence. But if the dreamer can’t remember it, what becomes of it? It lives on in Fantastica, deep under earth. There are forgotten dreams stored in many layers. The deeper one digs, the closer they are. All Fantastica rests on a foundation of forgotten dreams.”

And now, our guest author:

B.S.Thompson:

B.S. Thompson is a graphic designer, author, song writer and all around artist, currently living on Vancouver Island with his fiancé, and my little dog, Solara.

About his recently published book, he says:

“The book is called “The Book of Nodd.” It’s an epic fantasy-horror story about a peculiar young boy who stumbles into the dangerous world of mortal dreams looking for his lost friend. This boy, Edward Nodd, traverses the dream alongside old friends and new eventually facing off against the vicious and terrible Sandman who resides deep in the city of Nightmares. “

I hear it is only the first book of a trilogy, so there is more to come, and we wish him the best on his publishing journeys.
